    Which version of grub-gfxboot are you using?
    You need definitely the version 0.97-40. You can download it from http://www.sidux.com/debian/pool/main/g/grub-gfxboot/

    As far as I know and also reading the Opensuse link, you need gfxboot-devel package for that. Unfortunately that package is not available for ubuntu/debian.

    So the only way to test...

    For the gfxboot fancy things you need to install grub-gfxboot package.
    Don't know which version are you using.
    YOU need to deinstall grub first of course.

    It's true that there is some changing in file format for grub-gfxboot version 0.97-40. I think yoou have install that version otherwise it won't work with Intrepid at all..

    Yes true. I have also mentioned yesterday that you need a new grub-gfxboot version with Intrepid.
    But now all other standard message.* from e.g. art-gnome doesn't work at all.
    You get error message...
